It's not long before the whirring noise of a drone outside the window announces the arrival of their online order. The package slides into the slot in the wall with a 'thunk' and the drone, small thing covered in glowing holography that is half guide-light and half advertisement, flies off to make its next delivery. Yan Sun looks up from her laptop at the sound - she's seated on the bed, leaned back against the wall, with her computer resting
#HongKong – September 17, 2025
Jessica is perched at the window, seemingly having decided that the makeshift nightstand embedded in the wall makes for a better seat for her to look out over whatever small slice of the city she can as she pokes at her omni-tool. She, too, has procrastinated unpacking, her things still where she left them at the table when they first arrived. Back against the inner window sil, she looks up from her omni-tool when some noise outside
grabs her attention. The peculiar sight draws an amused look from her as she realizes what it is and she passes a glance Yan Sun's way before scooting off of the window sil and approaching the hatch beside it.
Yan Sun smirks slightly, watching Jessica with a fond amusement from her spot on the bed. The hatch opens automatically to allow the package to slide into the receiving slot mounted on the wall. There's the briefest whiff of nighttime city air before it closes once more, leaving the package sitting there at an angle, waiting to be retrieved. It's made of thin, rigid bioplastic, with a stylized 网上超市 - the logo of the store Yan Sun had
Jessica collects the package and sets it on the nightstand to begin opening it. The novelty of it has clearly amused her judging by the way she cranes her neck to try and get a better peek through the window at the drone flying away. "We can order from anywhere and they will just-...?" she glances Yan Sun's way, allowing a gesture to the hatch to finish her sentence for her.
Yan Sun snickers and nods. "Pretty much. Perks of living in the city..." she says without enthusiasm, but her amusement over Jessica's fascination lingers, and she sets her laptop aside as she watches her open it. The contents they selected are neatly stacked inside the box - Yan Sun's contributions are largely junk food, snacks, and energy drinks. Most brands, outside of one or two that might've found their way all the way to Aite, will no
doubt be alien to Jessica, but it's not hard to figure out what's what for the most part. Yan Sun reaches over, having to stretch to see without leaving the bed, and digs around greedily until she pulls out a bag of 'BBQ Fried Dough' with a grin. "Yesss..."
Jessica furrows her brow in thought and then opens her mouth to speak, "But is-..." she begins before a gremlin is reaching across her to retrieve junk food. She gives a roll of her eyes, fond grin coloring her lips, and presses a hand against Yan Sun's face to shove her away once the prize has been claimed. Her own contributions to their grocery list isn't much better. Mostly a random assortment of snacks and junkfood that were picked
out with Yan Sun's assistance. After some brief rummaging, she pulls out what she was looking for. A small box containing 6 neatly packed cans of beer! She sets the box down on the sil and rips it open, distributing one to Yan Sun by way of underhanding it at her and taking a second for herself. She sets the package down on the floor and retakes her previous seat, seeming to be in no more of a hurry to put their groceries away
than she was to unpack as the crisp crack of her can opening fills the room and she returns to her previous thought. "...Is only for foods?" she asks, seemingly feeling out the edges of this newfound service.
Yan Sun lets out a perturbed noise as she's shoved away, but the snacks in her hand is all the consolation she needs. Opening the bag is interrupted by the beer flying at her, however, and she startles as it hits her and she fumbles to catch it. "Ow!" She fails, and it lands on the floor with a clunk, and rolls under the bed. She grumbles, flustered, and leans down to dig something else out. "I don't want any gross beer..." she mumbles,
pulling out a can of blueberry alcopop instead, flashing a bright grin as she shows it off to Jessica. Finally, easy access to tasty drinks again! No more stupid, gross, difficult to catch beers. She cracks her can and takes a long sip before wedging it securely between her legs and opening her bag of snacks, smiling growing despite herself at the familiar scent. "Nope, you can order pretty much anything online," she answers
Jessica gives another roll of her eyes. "Good. Is more for me." she shrugs, taking a sip from her beer and unleashing an exaggerated sound of contentment as she settles back against the window sil, bringing her legs up into her nook. Her gaze shifts pointedly from Yan Sun to the darkness her lost beer has rolled into, and then back to Yan Sun, a small lift of her left brow serving as a silent demand.
Yan Sun 's smile slips away, and she just looks back at Jessica at first, but then she rolls her eyes. "Fine," she sighs, letting the dough piece drop back into the bag and setting it aside before moving her drink can to the windowsill next to Jessica, and getting down on the floor to look under the bed.
Jessica scoffs as Yan Sun rolls her eyes. "What?! You lose my beer!" she complains, though her voice is tinted with a hint of a snicker when Yan Sun complies and gets on the floor. "Good slut." she teases smugly as she takes a sip of her beer.
Yan Sun spots the errant can of beer and starts to reach for it, but Jessica's teasing has her flustered, and the brush of her fingertips accidentally sends the can rolling out of reach. She lets out a faint, annoyed grumble and stretches further, not just her arm, but head and one shoulder disappearing beneath the bed. At least Jessica can't see her blushing, half from sudden embarrassment at the realization of the position she's in, bent
Jessica leans back lazily against the windowsill, head tilted at a slight angle as she watches. "Is fine. You do not need to hurry, kitty cat." she continues to tease in a gravely drawl as Yan Sun struggles, the smile audible in her voice. "I am enjoying the show." She stretches her leg out, giving Yan Sun a playful poke on the ass with her foot.
Yan Sun 's hand closes around the can just before she feels Jessica's foot poke her, making her head hit the bed with a 'bonk' when she lifts it in reflexive surprise. She withdraws from under the bed with a wince, remaining seated on the floor, back against the bed as she rubs the back of her head with gritted teeth, her other hand cradling the beer in her lap. Her face is flushed bright red and her hair is a disheveled mess, strands
standing this way and that, and a few sticking to her face and in her mouth. She looks up at Jessica with a sulky grimace. "You suck..."
Jessica lets out an amused snicker as Yan Sun's head collides with the bed. "Mmm." she hums an agreement with Yan Sun's assertion as she studies her from her perch. "I can. This is what you want?" she offers, the annoying smile on her face giving away her transparent attempts at getting a rise out of Yan Sun.
Yan Sun lets out an exasperated groan, closing her eyes and continuing to rub at the back of her head, but despite the dull pain a smile threatens to break free. Refusing to give Jessica the satisfaction of a reaction of any kind, she takes a long breath and then brushes the hair from her face, before looking up at her again and tossing the beer can her way. "Here's your beer, jerk."
Jessica lets out a snicker and scoops the beer out of the air with such a casual, minimal amount of effort that it almost seems like an intentional attack on Yan Sun's clumsiness. "Thank you." she offers, the insincerity along with her annoying, confident smile another attempted barb. She sets the can beside her and takes another sip of her beer, bringing her foot back up onto the windowsill.
Yan Sun grumbles theatrically and climbs back into bed, snatching her alcopop and retrieving the bag of fried dough that she discarded as she settles back into her spot, finally popping one of the crispy BBQ snacks into her mouth, savouring the familiar deliciousness for just a moment, but after washing it down with a sip from her drink her eyes return to Jessica. She bites down on the smile that she just can't keep off her lips, and angles
Jessica's gaze turns from Yan Sun to the bag in her hand. She studies it for a moment before relenting with a sigh and slipping off of the windowsill to join Yan Sun. She reaches into the bag as she slumps beside her partner, back against the wall, and begins to examine the unfamiliar crispy snack with her good eye. "What is it?" she asks, giving it the tried and true sniff test as she asks.
Yan Sun 's smile flashes wider briefly. "Fried BBQ dough," she says. "Try it, it's delicious." Her shoulder presses against Jessica's as she leans closer, watching her and waiting. The texture is the crispy greasiness of any deep fried snack, and the smell is indeed vaguely BBQ-like, hinting at its sweet-and-spicy taste.
Jessica furrows her brow. "Weird..." she mutters to Yan Sun's explanation. She presses the tip of her tongue to the snack before giving a shrug and popping it in her mouth. Her face is hard to read as she begins chewing, a look of concentration painted across her for a moment before finally rendering her judgement with a pleased hum. "I am not afraid to put weird things in my mouth." she claims, licking at her lips as she glances Yan
Yan Sun looks unamused by the comparison, her persistent smile disappearing into a miffed, thin line. "Super funny..." she mutters, taking another sip from her can before reaching across Jessica to put it aside on the windowsill.
Jessica seems to find her own joke amusing judging by the smug grin on her face as she studies the woman beside her. Yan Sun being on the side of her bad eye forces Jessica to turn inward a bit to better look her way, head tilted against the wall. Despite her label of 'weird', the snack seems to have passed the test since she reaches for another and washes it down with a sip of her beer.
Yan Sun 's annoyance doesn't seem very long lived, as she settles back in next to Jessica, angling closer and resting her head on her shoulder. She nuzzles the crook of her neck lazily, nose and lips brushing against rough skin. She hums contentedly, her eyes resting on the fingers of her own right hand as they toy idly with the frayed corner of one of Jessica's lower pant pockets. Her blue nail polish is chipped after a few days of travel,
and she stinks a little of old sweat. A shower will definitely be on the agenda later, but... not now.
Jessica's gaze falls idly to the hand fidgeting with her pants and she brings her own free hand to catch it, briefly interlocking their fingers and giving Yan Sun's hand a squeeze before releasing it. She turns Yan Sun's hand over, palms up, and idly traces lines across it with her scarred fingertips. She takes one last swig of her beer before giving the empty can a little rattle and tossing it into the open package that's on the floor
beside the bed. Free of her drink, she leans a bit heavier against Yan Sun, unbothered by the days of travel clinging to her partner. She wouldn't have any room to complain, after all.
Yan Sun 's eyelids are growing heavy, the jetlag starting to catch up with her now that they can finally relax, but she nonetheless turns her head and starts pressing slow, affectionate kisses against the edges of Jessica's scars. Her right arm moves to hug her across the waist, and her leg shifts too, coming to rest over Jessica's. "I'm glad you came with me..." she mumbles quietly.
Jessica tilts her head a bit to catch one of the kisses, her lips lazily dragging against Yan Sun's. Her left hand shifts to Yan Sun's leg, fingers following the contour of the inside of her knee. "Where else I am going to be? Mmm?" she hums, her breath warm against Yan Sun's cheek as she nuzzles her nose alongside her partner's.
Yan Sun briefly flashes a soft, tired smile. While pressing another, deeper kiss against Jessica's lips she shifts partway on top of her, her hand shifting to the left side of her neck. Her cybernetic eye is alight with a faint blue glow as she pulls back from the kiss, illuminating the unusually possessive look on her face, which is half hidden behind the falling hair that frames their faces, almost cutting off the dim lights of the rest of
Jessica presses into the kiss, her eyes only opening once Yan Sun has pulled back. Her eyes- one brown and one pearly white- travel across her partner's face, their focus drawn to her lips. Her left hand on Yan Sun's leg tugs her further onto her lap, both hands shifting to the back of Yan Sun's thighs once she's fully atop her. "Mm." she hums in distracted agreement.
Yan Sun leans in for another kiss, but it's short lived, and there's a grin on her lips as she pulls back with a drawn out sigh, letting her head fall against Jessica's shoulder. "Weee should definitely put the food away before I fall asleep..." she admits in a reluctant mutter.
Jessica's hands shift, running their way to the small of Yan Sun's back as she pulls back once more. She lets a breath out through her nose, her gaze tilting briefly in the general direction of the box of food. "Mm." she hums as her focus returns to Yan Sun. "...Or... maybe I am thinking that there are more important things you should be doing first." she suggests, her voice quiet as a mischievous grin tugs at the corner of her mouth.
