Enila glances towards the window while Vasquez reads the document. "I don't know what that guest's deal was," she comments. "She had two days left on her stay, but was in too much of a hurry to leave to give you this herself."
#RedrockAgency – April 1, 2026
Ilyna still can't hide her own worry, but she manages to keep it together for now. "I'll be with you upstairs in a few minutes, okay?" she says, but she doesn't stand up yet.
Vasquez frowns as she reads. "What-... who the hell-..." she looks up at Enila. "Do you know anything about this Kolatia? Did she say anything? Give any context?"
Enila shakes her head slightly. "She checked in yesterday, and didn't really stand out to me," she says. "I did see her at a table with two other asari last night, Natalie's roommate Wenera and... I've never actually met the other one." She ponders the other question. "She must have overheard me speaking with Ilyna when I took her call at the bar, or maybe she knew that you provide security for us. She didn't really
Ilyna tries to mirror the resolve, but worry is still etched into her face. She does stand up, but her eyes are still on Li.
Vasquez ' frown lingers at the multitude of unanswered questions that linger. "Hmh. Alright. Well, thanks for getting this to us," she says, offering Enila a nod of gratitude as she lifts the datapad for emphasis.
Enila nods. "I'm happy to help, as it might be about Va'ynna," she says, her tone even and professional. "Kolatia is in the system at the Respite if you need a picture of her or the others she spoke to." She turns slightly towards the doorway. "Anyway, is there any news I can take back to Tara and Varisa?"
Ilyna sighs softly as Li runs off, and she starts walking towards Vasquez' office, arriving in the doorway as Enila finishes speaking.
Vasquez nods in response to Enila's comment about Kolatia. "I'll be reviewing the footage myself," she says, before letting out a faint sigh at the final question. "No news just yet. But rest assured Redrock is doing everything in our power to get Va'ynna back in one piece. We have agents on standby should anything else happen, and Briggs will remain stationed at the Respite until the situation is resolved." Her gaze shifts to
Ilyna as she appears in the doorway, but she offers no greeting just yet given the ongoing conversation.
Enila glances off towards Ilyna at seeing in the corner of her eyes before nodding again to Vasquez' update. It takes her a moment to recall who Briggs is, before she places him as the human who stepped in on Christmas. "Noted," she says. "I really should get back, so unless there's anything else...."
Vasquez nods. "Of course," she says, dismissing Enila before turning around and heading further into her office once more, looking up. "Fergus, have Briggs send over last night's surveillance footage from the Respite, and have any footage with Wenera in it flagged. Has the extranet search on Kolatia turned anything up yet?"
The search for outgoing transports returned a truck going west carrying cargo and passengers is the next departing one that's not hard to find info on, and it carries cargo and passengers on an indirect route to Fenadan. This was also the case on the day Ehanis left. There is information to be found on Kolatia from an Extranet search.
Enila nods and starts walking out of the office. "See you," she says as she passes Ilyna in the doorway.
Ilyna does not let her leave without a quick hug. "I'll call you later, okay?" she promises quietly.
Enila pats her back a few times before letting go of the hug, and exiting the office, wasting no time going for the main exit.
Ilyna sighs as she steps into the office to let the door close behind her, her worry turning to discomfort; Ehanis' involvement is only partially contributing to that.
Vasquez nods to herself and goes to retake her seat and review the search results compiled by Fergus, splitting her attention between that and the other person in her office. "Ilyna. We had to react to the intel quickly, there was no time to wait for anyone else to make it to base," she says, hoping to get ahead of any complaints, anticipating disapproval despite Jason's mention of go-ahead being given.
Ilyna stays close to the door, but she looks towards Vasquez as she speaks. "I know," she says, sounding a bit deflated. "It's... probably for the best. Li is not taking the news well either, and... I don't know if I could have left her."
Vasquez lets out a frustrated sigh and nods to herself before turning her attention to her remaining guest. "Ilyna. We had to react to the intel quickly, there was no time to wait for anyone else to make it to base," she says, hoping to get ahead of any complaints, anticipating disapproval despite Jason's mention of go-ahead being given.
Vasquez seems relieved by Ilyna's response, nodding in acknowledgement of her words about Li. "Your sister is a damn pain in the ass, Ilyna," she comments, none of her frustration aimed at the asari next to her. There's more commiseration to it than anything. "Do you have any idea what the hell she's up to?"
Ilyna looks briefly annoyed about the admittedly correct assessment of her sister, but the question evokes a sigh. "No, that's... what worries me," she says. "I last heard from her a few days after New Years, and in that letter she only talked about the colony work and some of the people there... though never by name." She pauses for a moment. "Maybe I was just... willing to believe her after Felcolus came back from
Vasquez moves back to her desk, placing a hand on it and looking down at her terminal with a sigh. "Did you have a chance to read the transcript I sent? I don't know how she's gotten mixed up in this, or why she's refusing to cooperate with us, but if she gets there before us, chances are she'll get both herself and the hostages killed..."
Ilyna raises her brows as Vasquez' estimations of how it's going to go. "I read it on the way here," she says. "It's... goddess, she even admitted her superiors didn't allow her to go." She looks a bit uncomfortable and averts her gaze. "I don't know what we could do to get her to listen. Maybe... let her know when our team gets there?"
Vasquez shakes her head. "I don't want to risk any information leaks to Piros' people. Especially when we don't even know what Ehanis' involvement in all this is. She's been refusing to respond to me entirely after that exchange. I was hoping you might try reaching out and get her to see sense."
Ilyna closes her eyes, feeling a bit frustrated about Ehanis being suspicious, though it fades as she agrees that Ehanis hasn't acted in a way to garner trust. "I... understand," she says. "I'll call her from my office." She looks back at the desk then at Vasquez. "So, what was on the datapad? Enila didn't bring it up on the ride here."
Vasquez nods. "If she does pick up, remember, don't give her any operation details. That's not on the table until she gets her head out of her ass and starts being more forthcoming," she reminds. Ilyna's question makes her return her gaze to the datapad before offering it to the asari for her to see. "Intel. No idea who the source is, or if it's accurate. I don't know what the hell is going on, but all this cloak and dagger shit
is pissing me off. Still, gonna forward it to the team, and see if I can figure out where it came from."
Ilyna nods. "Yeah, I understand," she says as she hesitantly steps forward to take the datapad, looking it over briefly before putting it back on the desk. "I see. I'll... leave you to it then, and let you know right away if Ehanis answers." She turns around and starts walking out of the office purposefully.
Vasquez nods and retakes her seat behind the desk, transcribing the contents of the datapad onto her terminal, wary of connecting it directly to Redrock's systems.
Ilyna reports back with a quick message after a few minutes that Ehanis' is rejecting her call, but that she will keep trying.
Upon receiving footage from the Respite's camera feeds, Fergus is able to match Kolatia T'Shor with helmet footage from the assault on Kalus Security almost a year ago. She was one of the people that Redrock restrained. The Respite footage does not have good enough audio to hear their covnersation between her, Wenera Leren and Nalota Teralis, however.
