Leah keeps her weapon low as she follows behind Celyna. As they reach the corner- and the door beside it- she looks to Celyna and gives her own ear a few quick taps before gesturing to the door, unable to vocalize it without potentially being heard given her lack of a helmet. She briefly approaches the corner that the asari is at, giving the wall a wide berth and peering around it. Once sure they're alone in the maintenance corridor,
#Aroste – April 8, 2026
she turns her focus back to the door and slips a blade free from her chestplate. A faint shimmer begins to enshroud her and she shoots another glance Celyna's way to ensure they're on the same page.
Jason acknowledges Renala's warning with a nod. "Sounds like we've got company on our side so expect things to get loud as soon as we make entry. Watch your fire and identify targets before engaging, we can't risk V and Wenera getting caught with strays." he announces over comms, gaze once more turning towards Renala, "As soon as this door is dealt with, get to work on the hangar. Once they're in you can join back up with me and Phil."
Zaylus glances back at the other team, steadying himself as their quiet approach is about to come to an end. He considers a word of caution to his teammates, but decides Jason's warning is likely more effective. He does briefly press his hand against Vicky's armored back, silently indicating he'll be right behind her when they breach.
Victoria keeps her eyes trained on the corner of the building, ready to start fighting the mech if it proves hostile to the team. As much as she wanted to trust Renala's work, there was a voice that demanded her to be cautious around the mech especiallly since they have no cover if it rounded the corner hostile. Upon feeling Zaylus' hand she gives a nod, understanding his meaning.
Celyna nods and presses up against the wall next to the door, pistol low but ready. "This is roof team, posted outside server room. Ready to go loud," she reports over comms, her sealed helmet giving her the muffling that Leah lacks.
Philip frowns, focus turning into urgent concern as he looks to Jason. "Uh, sir? What if there's other prisoners?" he asks quietly, recalling last time Redrock kicked down this particular door. "Kidnappin' seems like a common occurrence for these folks..."
Renala brings up her omni-tool and directs the YMIR mech to take a position at the garage door, though it'll take half a minute for it to get there at patrolling pace. Then, she does as told and starts working on the door.
(Southern Wall, Hallway Entrance) There is a sound of an interior door opening and closing just inside the hallway. The door's interface sputters and acts out, flashing a few strange colors before ending on the expected green glow.
(Southern Wall, Hangar Door) There is sound of activity in there with people walking around with hasty steps. There is no visible interface or button on the outside for this door.
(Maintenance Corridor) The door past the corner opens and a stone-gray male turian in red heavy armor (sans helmet) walks through, aiming right then left with a Phaeston assault rifle.
Uvena stacks up on the near (west) side of the garage door with the others, not wanting to be in the crossfire in case Victoria has to shoot at the mech.
Jason's posture takes on a loose bounce, rocking slightly on the balls of his feet, ready to explode through the door as soon as Renala has dealt with it. Phil's question causes him to offer a few nods, acknowledging the man's concern. "Should go without saying, but we deal with any other prisoners we come across as if they were our own people." he says, "Get them out of the line of fire and secured ASAP. We're taking anyone with us that
isn't supposed to be here." He's not about to just leave people in need behind if he can do something about it. He adjusts his grip on his Revenant as the interface begins to sputter. "Moving in. Free to go loud!" he announces as he taps the door panel and pulls the stock of his weapon against his shoulder, stepping through with his weapon at the ready as soon as it slides open.
Leah looks to Celyna but, before she's able to act on the door beside them, the sound of one opening further down the maintenance corridor catches her attention and she gestures towards the corner. Having to change her focus she shifts closer to Celyna, pressing against the wall closes to the corner to remain out of their visitor's line of sight for as long as possible, hoping to get him closer before engaging. She brings her Predator
in close to her chestplate, left hand clenching her blade in a reverse grip as she prepares to engage in close quarters.
Zaylus strains to listen through the wind and hail, unable to discern much except the mech drawing closer. He won't take his eyes off the hangar door, trusting that particular hack while they wait anxiously for this one.
Victoria upon hearing the sounds from inside the hanger, she readies herself to switch to her phaeston in her left hand and put the launcher on her back. She still keeps an eye on the mech, but she doesn't know how close the hostiles in the hanger are and catching herself in an explosion is low on her list of things to do.
Philip nods sharply and reaches up to wipe his face clear of water from melting hail in his hair, then he takes a steadying breath, tense and ready to move. As soon as Jason has passed through the doorway he swings around into the opening, his rifle pointed up as he takes in the situation.
Celyna 's helmet turns as she looks back over her shoulder in response to the sound. "Shit," she mutters to herself, but as Leah relocates she remains where she is - it's too late to delay the breach, and if the hostages are really in the next room then there's no time to waste. She'll have to trust that Leah can ambush whatever overly curious sentry they both heard. "Breaching," she calls out, biotic energy surging around her as she
pushes away from the wall, getting in front of the door. The dark energy coalesces around her leg before she aims a biotically charged kick at the left side of it, impacting it with a warbling, explosive BANG as she aims to blow that half open.
(Maintenance Corridor) The turian mercenary walks towards the corner slowly aiming his weapon at it. He speaks into his comms, "I'm heading to server room now." He probably hasn't noticed Leah yet.
(Server Room) The door bends inward at the kick and pops out of the mechanism and falls to the floor. The server room is a mess with racks pulled out and wires and tools all over the floors and tables. Two mercenaries are in the room. A lightly armored turian (dark-brown skin, blue paint) holding a M-6 Carnifex and an asari (pale blue skin, young maiden, no markings, 6'2"/190cm height) holding a M-12 Locust raises their weapons and
Renala brings up her omni-tool and starts issuing both the command to run her door opener on the garage door. "I'm disconnecting the mech from their network now."
(Southern Wall, Hallway Entrance) The door opens up to reveal a long 3m wide hallway that bends to the east almost at the other end of the building. The left wall has 2 doors spaced evenly apart; both locked. The right wall has 4 doors with the nearest being just next to the entrance; all but the furthest one that is clearly marked as a restroom is locked. One hostile, a turian woman in heavy armor that is not far from the third
right door opens fire with a Claymore shotgun immediately upon Jason's entry. The hallway offer no cover.
(Eastern Wall, Hallway Entrance) A sound comes through the hallway inside that is unmistakably the other entrance door tipping over into the hallway followed by heavy footfalls.
(Hangar) The garage door opens about 2m/7ft before a burst from an rifle fire coming from inside hits something to stop it. The hangar is a large room with four pillars and a Kodiak shuttle in the middle. Sala's shuttle can also be seen against the right-hand wall. There is also a wheeled APC in the south-east corner of the room. Crates, tires, and parts are all over the west half of the garage. There is a closed door on the back
wall, and it's unlocked. There are five hostiles, a fully armored batarian man, a fully armored human man and 3 LOKI mechs. The mechs have just been turned on and are getting to their feet along the back wall, holding M-4 Shuriken SMGs. The human is taking over behind Sala's shuttle's engines, and he fires at the west-side of the garage door with an M-7 Avenger even if he doesn't have a visual on the targets. The batarian is standing
Leah braces against the wall, keeping her profile as compact as possible. She's expecting Celyna's actions to put a pep in the sentry's step. Hopefully they're expecting to ambush whoever is causing a ruckus which just might make them less prepared for a counter-ambush. Despite the sound of the door rending open behind her, she remains still, head bowed as she listens for the footsteps of their would-be ambusher(s). Picking up that
there's only one, she braces herself when the footsteps draw near. First order of business is to do what she can to make it difficult for the attacker to do any real damage. This is made easier by the turian's choice of weapon: an assault rifle in an enclosed space. It means the Phaeston breaches the corner slightly before he does and Leah is quick to take advantage of it, thrusting her left hand forward as the turian begins to
round the corner, hooking her blade between the frame of the weapon and the barrel and forcing it upwards and to the outside to open him up and prevent him from firing off a shot in her and Celyna's direction. Simultaneously she aims to do some damage of her own. She presses her right boot just above his right knee, the shimmer around her flashing as she uses his leg as a step with a touch much lighter than one might anticipate,
hoping to avoid toppling him over completely so she can get a little more height. If successful, she attempts to press the barrel of her pistol to the crown his head to unload a trio of shots- stealth no longer a concern given Celyna's breach- and end things quickly. The goal is to overwhelm. Force him to try and wrestle for control of his weapon to create an opening she can exploit.
Jason immediately breaks to the left side of the hallway as soon as he's in to give room for Phil to make entrance. "Contact!" he calls out over comms, only able to get a few shots on target before his shields flare up from the first Claymore shot and his suit's systems are immediately barking out alerts. With nowhere to go for cover and every door around him locked, he does the only sensible thing: reaches for a puck from his belt,
Victoria places the launcher on her back, and raises her phaeston. "I'm hugging left and taking out the guy there, you two focus the mechs and the other one." She takes in a quick breath of air and releases it before she turns the corner and starts running towards the same pillar that the batarian is using as cover, on her way towards the pillar she fires off a six round burst towards that
Zaylus takes a moment to view the interior and decides he wants to get into position as fast as possible before the LOKI mechs really wake up. "Going right!" He answers, dashing across the open hangar door, toward the south-east pillar for cover. He keeps as low as possible when crossing the YMIR's line of sight, staying low when he arrives to his cover. He doesn't fire yet, more concerned
with crossing all that ground. His position is arguably more vulnerable to the batarian Vicky is targeting, but as directed he is positioning himself to contest with the hostile covering behind the engines.
Celyna had expected any potential hostiles in the room to be caught off-guard by her breach, and her shields take an immediate beating as their opponents prove quicker on the draw than anticipated. With no hostages in sight and no time to get fancy, she opts for the simplest possible solution to cut the gunfire short - her left arm shoots forward, fingers spread wide like she's letting a handful of dice fly - of course, in this case,
those dice are actually a roiling, loosely directed torrent of expanding mass effect fields, a shockwave aiming to wreak havoc on the room, shred server infrastructure and send tools and other loose items flying - and hopefully knock her attackers on their asses as well.
Philip quickly decides to remain in the doorway given the lack of cover inside, taking position on the left side where he can shoot without exposing himself and gritting his teeth as he fires off a burst at the turian to try and cover Jason best he can.
Urdnot can be seen round corner in the hallway, raising an M-27 Scimitar as he aims at the open doorway. His armor is a strong yellow with black trims and he is wearing a helmet.
Uvena sends off a stasis field towards the human at Sala's shuttle as she hurries over to the APC past Zaylus.
Ehanis opens the door from the hallway to the garage, and lets out a warp field at the nearest mech before firing at it.
Renala stays outside and taps on her omni-tool. "They're trying to get the mech back, so I'm shutting it down while I still can."
(Hallway) The turian woman turns around at the grenade and hurries down the corridor to get out of its range, but the blast still does a number on her shields as it sends her stumbling forward. She slams open the door to the restroom door and gets inside before Philip's fire can bring down her shields.
(Hangar) The leftmost mech goes down to Ehanis' fire before it finishes coming online, but the other two are now up and shielded. One opens fire at Ehanis and the other walks down towards the middle with its weapon aimed towards Zaylus' cover. The human pops out to fire at Zaylus, but his burst is cut short as he is caught in a stasis field. The batarian fires towards Victoria with the M-15 Vindicator, but his burst is interrupted
(Southern Wall) The mech lowers the weapon arms and tips backward unceremoniously without engaging the normal shutdown routine. Renala's drone ends up underneath it.
(Server Room) The shockwave makes quite a mess of the room with tools and equipment flying every which way. The turian slams against the server rack behind him and is hit by a few stray tools, but the shields does deflect them at great cost. The asari is pushed to the ground. A server rack that had been pulled out gets kicked aside and tips over to pin the asari to the ground. She is not moving right away. The turian dives behind the
(Maintenace Corridor) The turian is interrupted by a comms message and is about to respond to it when Leah stabs his weapon and aims it upward. He does wrestle back control of it by aiming it hard towards the right and away from her, but he realizes too late what her plans were and the three shots connect, dropping him unceremoniously to the ground.
(Outside) The hailing is starting to let up, but the wind is still strong. The visibility is a little bit better than it was a minute ago.
Leah remains perched on the turian's knee and rides his lifeless body to the ground, using the momentum to roll forward. As she untucks from the roll, she brings her pistol up, training it on the door he entered from. After a moment passes and it becomes clear that nobody else is about to immediately burst through the door, she begins to slowly backpedal towards the corner once more, the torrent of gunfire and crashing that's erupting
Jason lets out a breath of relief as the grenade has the intended effect, forcing the turian to retreat and giving him a little breathing room. Syld's sudden appearance causes him to instinctively shift focus his way, but the IFF tags do their job and he's quick to tilt his weapon down. He knifes a hand towards the restroom to reinforce to the krogan that the turian enemy is still in play. "Their shields are low, don't give 'em time to
dig in!" he suggests to the new ally given his closer proximity to the restroom and his own brittle shield situation preventing him from pushing immediately. "Renala? Get up here and start cracking these doors!" he calls out. With an enemy tucked away ahead of him, no cover, and doors on every side, advancing feels like a death wish so he opts to hold his position for now, Revenant trained in the general direction of the restroom
Victoria grits her teeth at the vindicator rounds hitting her shields, but that only encourages her to move faster with her shields still holding. Upon seeing the batarian move to the western side of the pillar, she starts moving towards the southside. She is hoping to build up enough speed that when the batarian peaks out again, she can simply knock them down to the ground with her speed and
Zaylus is prepared to return fire on the human hostile when Uvena makes her move. The biotic display and resulting quiet from the avenger rifle indicates he's at least temporarily handled. So he turns instead to lean around the west side of his pillar, engaging directly with the LOKI that's unfortunately bearing down on him. He's kneeled, levelling careful shots with his Carnifex.
Celyna presses up against the doorframe, squeezing of a few hastily aimed shots at the fallen server rack and the people behind it, hoping to keep them suppressed as she assesses the situation and waits for her shields to recharge. "Got two assholes pinned in the server room!"
Philip takes aim at the suddenly appearing krogan, and is about to squeeze the trigger when his rifle's scope alerts him of what his non-existant HUD could not: the krogan is a friendly. His shoulders sag slightly, relieved to have narrowly avoided disaster, but he quickly refocuses, rifle slightly lowered as his gaze bounces around the hallways at the many potential doors enemy combatants could emerge from.
Urdnot hurries over to the door with his weapon raised. He lets go of the weapon with his left hand to catch a grenade that was thrown his way from too close a range, which he lobs back into the room before shooting at the turian with his shotgun to keep her back.
Renala runs in after Jason's order and begins working on the nearest one. "Copy," she replies over comms.
Ehanis is pushed back to the doorway by the mech's fire against her shields, but she fires off a Throw at the human merc before retreating with barely any shields to spare.
(Hallway) The shotgun shot connects and takes care of the rest of her shields, and the grenade goes off inside the small room with some fragments flying out into the hallway. The turian may not have been killed, however, as the restroom door closes and locks. The door Renala is at opens to reveal an a rec room with nobody inside. There is a couch, a table, a vid screen and shelves and drawer units. The other doors remain closed and
(Hangar) Victoria slams into the batarian and causes him to lose his weapon, but he remains standing as he reaches for a collapsed M-3 Predator pistol. The stasis field explodes and slams the human merc into the eastern wall, making him lose his weapon. He does still live, however, and crawls towards the weapon; Sala's shuttle covers him from all but Ehanis. The LOKI mech keeps firing at Zaylus, but their combined fire does bring its
shields down. The mech has no sense of self-preservation however, and is not bothered by that. The other LOKI mech keeps suppressing Ehanis' position, only stopping once to reload.
(Server Room) The turian takes the fire from Celyna and the shots connects due to his shields being down, but it does not stop him as he aims towards the doorway to fire. The asari did not take any of the shots, but remains still.
(Maintenance Corridor) The turian remains dead, and the door he came from remains closed (but unlocked).
Leah nods to Celyna's report as she returns to the server room, posting up on the wall opposite of the asari. She tilts away from the door instinctively as a few Carnifex rounds fly but her shields are still fully operational so, once there's a gap in the shots, she hazards a peek inside. Just a quick dip of her head to get a read on the situation. "Plenty of debris in there!" she calls across the open doorway to Celyna once she's
clear from the line of fire, that faint glow enveloping her once more. They don't exactly have time to sit around hashing out a plan. So she offers a simple: "Cyclone?" hoping the asari understands what she's getting at, her posture shifting and implying she's ready to take point rather than wasting any time and allowing them to potentially regroup.
Jason moves up past the door Renala is working on but swaps to her side of the corridor to post up in case any other doors snap open, assuming Phil will take point clearing the room once it's been unlocked. "Make sure they're down!" he says to the krogan as the restroom door slides shut. They've got too much building left to clear to take chances.
Victoria is quick to regain her footing after slamming into the batarian, hearing his rifle clatter to the floor. Taking the chance to eliminate the threat completely, she swings her phaeston at hip level towards the batarian. "Should've stayed home, cunt." She holds down the trigger to her rifle letting it roar.
Zaylus doesn't have the luxury of not worrying about his shields, and their sustained volley has him approaching danger. He hazards one more shot after the mech's shields are depleted, then retreats behind cover to preserve his own. He charges a new clip in anticipation of the mech continuing to advance on him. He likely believes the human hostile to be done for, and his view of Vicky is
Celyna ducks fully into cover when the turian returns fire. Her grin goes unseen under her helmet as Leah speaks, but her nod is answer enough. She holsters her pistol, that telltale indigo shimmer surrounding both of her arms as she gathers energy in preparation of the moment her kinetic barrier generators refresh.
Philip briefly just watches in awe as the krogan returns the grenade to the bathroom it came from, but soon snaps out of it, back to watching the corridor, while keeping an eye on Renala's progress from the corner of his eye.
Philip briefly just watches in awe as the krogan returns the grenade to the bathroom it came from, but soon snaps out of it, moving up to the door Renala has just opened, posting up against the left side of the doorway and sweeping his raised rifle across the room a little erratically.
Urdnot takes some of the fragments, but his shields got him covered. "Copy." He fires his shotgun four times at the door before kicking it down.
Uvena sends a biotic Throw towards the mech firing at Ehanis' position before continuing to fire on the same one approaching them. "We're still holding up in the hangar. One hostile and two mechs standing."
Ehanis peeks out through the doorway. "Shuttle guy isn't dead yet," she says and uses her biotics to yank his gun away from him and pull it into the open.
(Hangar) The batarian takes a few shots before he head butts Victoria and tries to push her away to open fire with his pistol. The mech going for Zaylus and Uvena is taken down by the fire. The enemy human stops for a moment as the gun is pulled away and he starts getting to his feet by pulling himself up along the side of the shuttle, then opens said shuttle's doors.
(Krogan Restroom) The door gives in and slams down on the floor. The turian is somehow still alive judging by the loud Claymore fire that answers the kicked down door.
(Hallway) The rec room remains clear. The next door opens Renala opens automatically upon being unlocked. It leads into a barracks with bunk beds, lockers and a bench. It's also clear of enemies.
(Server Room) The turian reloads his weapon before quickly overturning the server on its side to improve its cover and get the asari free. She remains still, however. "Got two outside server room," he speaks into comms.
Leah nods when it seems as though they're on the same page. She attempts to wait just a few breaths to give Celyna a chance to recover from whatever potential shield deficit she may have incurred while Leah was busy with the sentry but the sound of the turian moving around inside forces her hand. She swings into the room and breaks left to give Celyna room to enter behind her, firing off a few rounds in the general direction of the
pair of enemies, mostly attempting to keep them in cover or, at the very least, their focus on her to set Celyna up. She immediately follows up by jerking her left arm up with a flash of energy, attempting to lift the enemies- and their cover- off the ground to prime them for Celyna.
Jason is quick to move up with Renala to keep her covered. With Phil busy and both Renala and the krogan still in play in the hallway, he takes it upon himself to clear the newly unlocked room. He gestures for Renala to keep eyes down the hall before storming inside, moving with a practiced precision that comes from his years onboard the Beirut, drilled into him through repetition. He begins a quick sweep through it, eyes scanning for
Victoria laughs when the batarian makes full contact with the headbutt, her old fighting instincts screaming at her now. When he reaches up to push her away, she goes to grab his wrist with her right hand hoping to pull him along and mess with his aim. "Come on then, let's fucking play." With the phaeston in her left hand, she swings it like a bat aimmed at the batarian's head. Planning on
Zaylus peers back out at the sound of the approaching mech hitting the floor, in time to see the remaining one receive Uvena's biotic throw. Feeling refreshed and not so pinned down, he wants to heed Ehanis' warning, worried the human hostile could be doing more than just hiding in the shuttle. He dashes for the east wall, trying to get around the APC and eventually the shuttle without
fouling Uvena's line of fire. He rounds the shuttle with his pistol raised, hoping to be faster than the human.
Celyna 's shields stop complaining, and she follows a beat after Leah, barriers still recharging as she enters the room alight with biotic energy. Her right arm stabs forward aggressively, palm twisting up as she sends the various objects and debris scattered around the wrecked room flying at the two hostiles at high speeds with a precisely applied shift in gravity. Her other hand rises next to her head, palm forward, fingers clawed
like they're grasping something large, her whole body straining as redirects the objects she just launched in an arcing path meant to preserve some of the momentum, creating a vortex of flying debris that pelts the turian, the asari, and everything else in that half of the room again and again as it circles, while being held back from Leah and herself.
Philip moves into the rec room, proceeding slowly around to check angles not visible from the entrance, doing his best to keep an eye on the other door as he does. Assuming no one pops out to attack him, he calls in "Room's clear, but I've got another door here!", taking position behind a piece of furniture and keeping his gun trained on said door while awaiting instructions.
Urdnot tanks the hit, but his shields are no more. He stomps inside the room and unloads the remainder of his clip on the turian.
Uvena steps around the APC but stays close to the right hand wall as she sends off a stasis field at the batarian to help Victoria. She then opens fire on the last LOKI mech.
(Barracks) The lockers are too narrow to hide a person and the rest of the room does not have any hiding places either.
(Hallway) The remaining locked hallway doors up until the corner go dark, the interfaces disappearing from view. The south entrance also closes and goes dark. The other doors remain unchanged.
(Hangar) The batarian's shot fly wide as he is pulled towards Victoria, but the rifle to his head connects and makes him stumble over to his side until a stasis field freezes him in place mid-stumble. The human gets inside the shuttle by the time the turian gets to him and he limps into the cockpit to sit down in the pilot's seat. The mech turns its attention towards Uvena to return fire, but the warp field makes it sputter fall
(Server Room) The turian keeps firing at the biotics, but it doesn't take long before parts from the server rack comes loose and his cover becomes his doom. If the asari wasn't dead before, she sure is now and they both are starting to look maimed and bloody.
Leah remains focused on keeping their opponents helpless to Celyna's attack even as her shields flicker to the desperate rounds. She rotates the pair and yanks them this way and that so they're unable to properly defend themselves while objects hammer into them from every direction. It's only when it's clear that they're deceased that she lowers her arms, allowing everything she's keeping up to fall to the floor.
Jason dips low to make sure there's no stragglers hidden beneath the bunkbeds before deeming the room: "Clear!" He lowers his weapon as he returns to the hallway, answering Phil in the process. "Map says that should just link back up with the hangar. As long as our people still have a foothold out there it should be safe to leave it for now. Just-..." He trails off, instinctively swinging his Revenant towards the door they made their
entrance into the building through when it snaps shut behind them. His natural reaction is to look to Renala for answers, causing him to take notice of the fact that all of the door interfaces have dimmed out. "Why are the doors losing power...?" he asks, concern clear in his voice.
Victoria is about to backswing with her phaeston bat but once she notices the statis freeze the batarian in place, she stops herself before swings it back. She takes a couple of steps back away from the batarian, raising her phaeston. Ready to hold down the trigger again as soon as the statis field is dropped.
Zaylus growls, "Oh no you don't." He lowers his firing stance to clamber into the shuttle after him, pulling himself up and in with his off hand. He lunges forward to arrest control of the human's nearest arm, worried what damage his attempt at escape could wreak in the hangar. The close positioning makes aiming awkward, the configuration of arms forcing him to attempt firing at the man's
Celyna releases her focus alongside Leah, allowing the objects she's suspended to slam into the far wall and clatter to the floor as her hands drop to her sides with a winded laugh and a "Whoo!" She gives her head and shoulders a quick shake, brimming with excess energy as she pulls her pistol and marches over to plant two shots in each of the mangled hostiles to confirm that they're not getting back up.
Philip is already on his way back into the corridor when the mention of the doors causes him to speed up, looking around in confusion on emerging, guard temporarily lowered. "That seems bad..."
Urdnot returns from the room, the Claymore now attached to his back. "Done," he reports. His shields are starting to recharge.
Renala brings up her omni-tool and taps away at it to scan it. "I can't reach the network, and the doors are without power."
Ehanis enters the room when the last of the mechs go down and takes aim at the batarian. "Our exit and hangar is still open," she reports over comms. "We used a warp field to soften the door and a good krogan kick to get in without too much noise."
Uvena hurries up to the shuttle to check on Zaylus' situation. "I'll drop stasis in two, one," she reports over comms before letting go of the field.
(Hangar) The stasis field does wear out after Uvena's countdown, causing the batarian to stumble onto the floor. He grabs his pistol and quickly fires towards Victoria, but his aim is very off despite the weapons' corrections. The human does not put up much of a fight as the turian's fire connects and ignores the shields from being too close, and he goes limp while still breathing.
(Hallway) The remaining doors also lose power, but the open interior doors remain so. At least the lights are still on.
(Maintenance Corridor) The doors from here also lose power, but the other doors are made of the same stuff as the server room door.
(Server Room) The entire room goes dark after everything slams into the back wall. It's only lit by the maintenance corridor as Celyna shoots the mangled corpses in the head.
Leah draws in a deep breath once the 'heavy lifting' has been handled. "Good work." she says, green eyes briefly tilting up as the lights go out. The confused reporting over comms causes her to wince. "Pretty sure that's our handy work..." she chimes in with a sigh, the timing of it all coincidental enough to inspire confidence in her assumption. After a couple of sparks of light fill the room from Celyna's muzzle flashes, she turns
back towards the corridor, nodding for the asari to join her. As soon as she's out of the room she brings her Predator back up, keeping it close to her chest as she stalks down the corridor. "We made a bit of a mess in the server room but we're moving to link up with the rest of you now. No sign of the hostages yet on our end."
Jason seems to relax a hair as Leah confirms that this isn't some intricate trap orchestrated by their hosts. "Copy. We'll keep looking." He passes a glance over the others in the hall way, puzzling out how to handle things from here with this new wrinkle. With a glance towards the krogan, he nods towards the second door on the left. "You take that door, we'll take these." he says, doing his best to just keep things moving as the gunfire
in the hangar begins to become more sporadic. With one more look to Phil, he sets up on the second door on the right, hopeful that without power that also means the locks are down. Would be a fire hazard otherwise, right? He holds his Revenant by the frame in his left hand, using his right to find whatever purchase on the door that he can to prepare to manually slide it open. Once he's got a handle on it, he waits for Phil to get
Victoria holds down the trigger once Uvena's countdown is over and follows the batarian's fall with her rifle pointed at him. She doesn't flinch at the despite firing of the batarian, she doesn't care if a few shots hit her while she is unloading into him. He is just another victim in her path to save Va'ynna.
Zaylus | The arm going limp in his grasp allows him to reposition, pulling the human closer to fire the killing shot before releasing him. He pulls himself back to the door of the shuttle, peeking out to see Victoria unloading on the batarian. He gives Uvena a nod and a dismissive wave, slipping out of the shuttle.
Celyna ejects the spent heat sink from her Carnifex on her way out of the server room, following Leah into the corridor and around the corner, giving the dead turian a quick prod with her boot before stepping over the body with an approving "Hmh.", back on alert after as the corridor stretches on ahead.
Philip is once again dismayed to find himself on the right side of the door as he joins Jason, but this time he decides to shift his rifle into a left-handed grip, despite his uncertainties about operating it like this. He offers a nod to confirm his readiness.
Urdnot nods and stomps over to the door right across from his position. Seeing Jason try to pry open the door, he tries to do the same without waiting for a signal. His shields are fully recharged.
(Hallway) The doors do offer some purchase, but it's rather shallow and the door is heavy to pull. It's fail safe rather than fail secure, but not that safe.
(Kitchen) The krogan is able to pull the door open a little before a strong biotic throw sends both his half of the door and the krogan back towards the other wall with a loud sound.
(Hangar) The human stopped breathing, and so does the batarian as the sustained fire makes quick work of the him; talk about kicking someone while they're down. The hangar is now clear.
Leah hugs the wall as she continues down the corridor towards the door, crossing her bladehand beneath her gunhand to help stabilize. As she nears the door she gives her Predator a tilt, inspecting the heat buildup on her HUD. Deeming it acceptable, she crosses the door to stack up on the opposite side and waits for Celyna. She fixes her weapon on the door, waiting for the asari to open it.
Jason seems to quickly abandon his idea when the krogan is sent sailing across the hall and the door itself goes skittering into the hallway, causing him to reflexively duck his head. "Shit-..." he mutters, swiveling on the balls of his feet and shouldering his Revenant, training it on the now-open kitchen door. "Renala-..." he doesn't finish his thought, merely shooting a glance towards the asari and gesturing with his right hand
towards the set of doors they were preparing to tackle as he crosses the hall to keep close to the western wall, a silent command for her to keep eyes on them. He gives a little wave for Phil to follow and brings his hand back to his Revenant's grip. "How you doing, big guy?" he calls out to check on the krogan, eyes remaining fixed on the kitchen door as he does.
Victoria ejects the thermal clip out of her phaeston and inserts a new one. "Wolfe, hangar is cleared. Where do you need us most?" She looks down at the batarian and gives him a quick little kick to make sure he was down for the count.
Zaylus doesn't get the chance to join in the batarian onslaught. He moves toward the center of the hangar, giving each downed mech a suspicious glance. Vicky beats him to reporting their status, so he just keeps an eye on the open hangar door while waiting for an answer.
Celyna moves in front of the door, but with the power out and no need to time their breach, she opts for a subtler and more energy-efficient strategy, holstering her pistol and making a prying gesture with both hands in front of the doorway as she uses her biotics to latch onto both halves of the door and jerk them open along their tracks instead of knocking them off.
Philip 's eyes go wide as the krogan goes flying, and he clutches his rifle uncertainly until Jason gestures for him to follow. He scrambles to do so, swapping his grip back to right handed as he moves down the corridor slightly behind Jason, keeping to the east.
