Vasquez ' jaw clenches slightly, but she remains silent until Ehanis has finished speaking. "Disobeying your superiors didn't seem to bother you much during your time at Redrock," she comments dryly.

Ehanis snorts. "You make it sound like it was something I did every week, for fun," she says, sounding frustrated at the line of questioning. "Or is this about how I took off the same day I told you? I couldn't stay in town, and if you've met Mian, you would understand that."

Vasquez shoots Ehanis an unimpressed scowl. "I have. And I don't. You had plenty better options. But rest assured that you did a hell of a job demonstrating your unreliability as both an employee and a sister." A curl of her lip, which distorts around the jagged edge of her scar. "Do you even fucking realize how worried she's been about you?" she asks with a frustrated sigh, squinting as she studies her. Searching for any sign that

she realizes she fucked up.

Ehanis takes a step back, going quiet for a brief moment as she considers her words, and tries to cool her mounting frustration. "Of course I do. I told her everything was fine, but she still sent the shuttle the moment she tracked my location," she says, and she steps back towards her bag. Her voice sounds deflated as she continues, but the frustration is still there. "My sister was out of my life for fifty years, which

isn't nothing even to us asari,... and she should focus on Li who actually need her."
