Potentially Relevant Information

I'm still editing this, so it might be a little bit messy.

Things with Sala Piros started when Va'ynna was kidnapped in October 2185, and has loomed over Va'ynna's life ever since. The uncertainty is causing Va'ynna a lot of anxiety, and she dares not step outside on her own.

While some believe there is a connection between Sala Piros and Rellis Darennon's organization, such a link has not been proven.

This documents collects all potentially relevant information, but not all of it will necessarily be on the test. It's in chronological order, but there may be future context or relevant information about the present time.

Va'ynna's arrival

Va'ynna arrived in Freedom Falls in late 2184, and she quickly became friends with a few Miner's Respite regulars like Jason, Victoria, Zaylus and Iressa. She would often excuse herself to take a call, but never talked about the caller. That turned out to be Nari Aehan, her step-mother, who had made her go to Aite in the first place.

Event: Rellis' Contract (January 2185)

Redrock were hired by Rellis Darennon to deal with Kalus Security, making very strong claims about illicit activites they were involved in. The mission was a strong success, leading to the death of Kalus himself and some of his employees while the rest surrendered. What became of the surviving employees is unknown, but they did not continue using the base.

Many Redrock agents met up at the Miner's Respite at the end of the day to celebrate a mission well done, when a recent regular, a pale asari, stood up and drew a weapon on Va'ynna. Before she was able to pull the trigger, she suddenly turned towards Rellis who was sneaking up on her while cloaked and fought him for a while.

Rellis was able to escape the Miner's Respite, and did not return the angry message he got from Jason.

The asari was subdued and questioned. She introduced herself as Siveya T'Vezan and explained that she was trying to take down Rellis Darennon's organization, a mission she's had for twenty-six years. She claimed no personal quarrel with Va'ynna, and promised to be out of the town for good if let go; she had no interest in finishing the job for the person that tried to stab her. She has not been seen in Freedom Falls since.

They did get Jelvan Darennon, however, and brought him to Redrock HQ for questioning.

Event: Familial Ties (August 2185)

It was a day just like any other when Uvena broke into the Miner's Respite's garage to take shelter from two mercenaries that were after her. She had just arrived on the planet with a lot of stolen datapads from Nari Aehan (not known at the time).

Steve told her to go to Redrock HQ with it, and she did. She showed up armored from head to toe and was able to get an immediate unscheduled meeting with both Jason and Linda. Most of the datapads she stole had a security mechanism that scrambled their data, but she was able to keep some of it and shared that with Jason.

The datapad that Uvena gave to Redrock contained files with incomplete metadata showing the correspondence between Yarthol, an unknown third party ("N"), and T'Vezan.

Redrock mustered a crew on short notice to go to Aroste to act on the intel while it was still somewhat fresh. They did cause trouble with Derrai and Aroste Flight Control on the way there, but they made it within spitting distance of the AO without trouble.

The element of surprise did not last much longer, however, as a failed hack drew suspicion and an alarm was sounded. Redrock still won the ensuing battle, and was able to subdue the hostiles with minimal deaths.

Teris, the chief on site, did manage to get away by denying entry to the roof with a singularity. There was a fully armored asari on the roof that tried to hold Teris back, but failed.

The armored asari cooperated with Redrock, but they never learned her identity before letting her go.

Marissa T'Evin was found on the site, inside a server room. Teris had complained that they should not keep grabbing them from Citadel Space, but they did not find out what Teris would want her for.

Jelvan was kept at Redrock HQ for questioning, and provided very little information:

  • He is not aware of his brother Rellis' location. He would later say that he did know, but the information was a 100 days out of date and would be wrong.
  • Rellis is a dangerous person that Redrock would be wise not to anger.
  • He thinks Teris escaping is bad news.
  • The structure and scope of the organization was unknown to him. He always got what he needed, and always did what they told him.
  • Another team brought Marissa in, and he is not aware of their purpose for her.

For someone who did not know that much, Rellis did expend a lot of resources bringing him back. First there was an attack on Redrock HQ that did extensive damage, then an unknown lilac-skinned asari tried to get to Jelvan at a hospital.

Rellis then game a deadline for returning Jelvan, and they moved him out of the hospital to a hangar in the spaceport in anticipation of the consequence. They won the battle, but not without serious injuries.

It ended up being a loss in the end, as Rellis was able to get Jelvan released in return for leaving Redrock alone.

Uvena paid for the job in full regardless of its mixed results.

The lilac-skinned asari was shot and killed when trying to steal data from the Miner's Respite.

Renala and Philip took care of Marissa for a while, but she was eventually taken to Thessia by a relative, who is also a friend of Ilyna.

None of the dead mercenaries were identified.

Event: Skipping Work (October 2185)

This all started when Aylena contacted Victoria: Va'ynna had is more than half an hour late to work and was unreachable. Victoria called Uvena at first, and it took another half an hour before she involved Redrock Agency.

An employee at a store along the way was able to find footage showing the kidnapping, and Mendez presumed correctly that the mercs taking her were the same people that went after Uvena about the stolen car. The debt was supposed to be called off with the return of the car.

To make a long story short, they busted down some doors over at Avoren Security, killed some people (including their leader Taro Avoren) and got the intel of the whereabouts of the "rogue team" that were still trying to collect the debt.

The ensuing fight was also skewed heavily in Redrock's favor with just three hostiles. Two of them were gunned down, but Ninava was interrogated and eventually let go.

Ninava let them know about Sala Piros, that she had asked for Va'ynna by name, and was coming over to check on her. She also mentioned that someone else was supposed to pick her up later, but did not have a name.

Ninava was let go, and did get treated at the hospital, but she has not been seen since.

Finding Va'ynna's Omni-Tool

Renala tried tracking Va'ynna's omni-tool, but it only came online after the rescue had taken place. Kirev Emosa, a salarian militiaman, had found it on the ground in the morning and taken it home to repair it with the intention of returning it. He gave it back to Jason and Oxaris when they followed the tracking signal to his home. He mentioned the surviving kidnapper arriving at the hospital, but Jason recommended he keeps it to himself.

Kirev was posted at the reception when Steve vsited on Cross' behalf, and he has been seen every now and then at the Miner's Respite. He is often seen with Nalota, Wenera and Natalie.

Finding Sala's Omni-Tool and Wenera Leren

Renala was asked to try track down Sala Piros based on contact information they've gotten from the field. At first it seemed successful, and it returned a tracking signal at the location where Va'ynna was held. It turned out to be an omni-tool stuck to the underside of an upturned bed awaiting them at the scene. And a person who quickly identified herself as Sala spoke with them.

Sala Piros acted with what Jason and Victoria thought was unearned confidence, and she gave them a proposition: do a job for her and she'll leave Va'ynna alone. The job was to capture Wenera Leren inside Freedom Falls, and bring her in front of the same camera they were talking to. Jason naturally declined this, and after some back and forth threatening, the camera destroyed itself.

They had a lead in Wenera Leren, and Jason found out she was staying the Miner's Respite by checking if Aylena D'Inea.

Wenera shared a picture of a sky-blue asari in green armor. There are some spots of yellow on her cheeks. The image is of rather bad quality, and the lighting is terrible. This person had committed a murder in Raelos two months prior, and Wenera's employer had taken notice. Sala Piros was one potential name to the face, and her pursuit of Wenera was what made her the prime suspect.

Wenera was looking for Natalie Wood, a witness to the murder. While Jason offered to help find her, she said she'd be able to on her own. According to Va'ynna, she was with a human woman when she checked out from the Miner's Respite.

Natalie answered the call when Jason contacted Wenera, confirming that. She has been seen at the Respite with Wenera, Nalota and Kirev.

Contacting Nari

Renala discovered Nari's communication software while getting rid of her tracking software on it. She thought Nari's software had much more access than it ought to have, and informed Va'ynna about it.. Va'ynna asked her to remove it, but Renala neglected to tell her she hade a copy of it before doing so.

That copy came in handy after Va'ynna told Jason about Nari, and he sought to contact her in spite of Uvena's warnings about the dangers in that. Renala was in Armali at the time, but she had no time to investigate her there, but she did mention the copy to him then.

Nari denied having any part in Va'ynna's troubles, but said that information will find itself in capable hands if and when it's needed.

Anywhere but Here

Ilyna had gone to Mian and Ehanis' apartment in Road's End to find out more about Ehanis' sudden departure when Mian attacked her. That prompted Redrock to bring Mian in. What's relevant here is that when Redrock went back to search the apartment, they found a picture of Sala Piros. It was the same blurry one that Wenera showed Jason.

When Mian was questioned about the picture, she explained that she was just itching for a fight with a worthy opponent. Main said that Ehanis was meant to deliver the OSD from Wenera before going to Rakhana, and that she had forgotten to do so. Mian had enough time to buy a datapad and make herself a copy before handing it over. It was delivered to Redrock via Ilyna.

Mian did visit Wenera at her home to check if Ehanis passed through there, claiming that it was just her scraping the bottom of the barrel for clues. Mian said that Ehanis met Wenera at the Respite and that they've seen each other a few times.

Mian is still working with the militia, but there has been no further altercations between her and any member of Redrock Agency.

Ehanis is currently living and working in a small colony near Leyto Pangn. Sioria had limited intel on her coworkers: a salarian tech named Luyn, and an asari named Siv or Siveh. Sioria saw the latter, but did not give a description. By all reports, Jason is right that Ehanis just wanted to get away for a while.

Ehanis was paid by Redrock Agency for the mission to rescue Li.

Enila Aehan

Enila arrived in Freedom Falls when Janysa once again suddenly had to leave. She was not supposed to be here, she would admit, but she had persuaded Yseli (aka Kanaya D'Inea) to let her go in her stead.

She did not know anything that could help Jason, and they started off on the wrong foot when she got quite angry about Jason discussing such a sensitive matter out in the open.

She suspected that Janysa Aehan was acting on behalf of asari authorities, but footage of Matriach Menarae not being aided was enough proof to Enila that this isn't the case. Ilyna had recognized Menarae and told Enila about it.

Christmas

Wenera and Natalie were at the Respite on Christmas eve, where they sat at a table with Nalota and Kirev.

Contacting Nari Again

Jason had long tried to talk Va'ynna into contacting Nari, and she eventually did. This time Enila had helped her reach out via her mother, who has a line to her just like Janysa does.

Va'ynna finally got confirmation of her suspicions that Nari was lying to her, but Nari claimed to be doing it for Va'ynna's own good. Va'ynna suspects that Nari might have had a more active part in her troubles, that this is about her.

So, What Now?

The upcoming event will take place in the early morning at 6:40am, but a Session 0 that I've already scheduled will set the scene and answer a lot of practical questions about how characters are to become part of it.
